The venue toured the musical ‘Grit of Life’ from Jun – Sept 21’ which was commissioned in 2020 by ACE.
Inspired by the environment, the musical weaves the history of the British waterways from a social perspective using music and drama.
The ‘Grit of Life’ is written and directed by award-winning John Knowles featuring songs composed by Rory McLeod – a winner of BBC 2 Folk Awards.
Produced by award winner Mj Morganm we aim to bring this back to the waterways in 2024.
The play was toured from London to Walsall in 2021, including participating in Coventry’s City of Culture.
The boat toured to Bristol in 2019 to participate in Bristol’s Shakespeare Festival.
The Canal River Trust has partnered with the organisation for the fourth year running hiring the theatre boat for shows early September as part of the community festival held in Angel & Islington.
Previous partnerships have included working with the Islington puppet theatre staging the end of year students shows.

We are proud to have got this far, very grateful of the support by the boating community, residents in all the visiting surrounding areas the boat has performed to and will do.
